Yum animations.Tuesday, September 26, 2006Ok, so I don’t like animated gifs as much as flash. Its so hard to get things to “Tween” the right way or something you want to do, you just can’t in a gif!Anyways… to my self-evaluation: http://home.moravian.edu/students/c/sttrc01/ad1/ 1: Express Men: I think this was the more successful out of the two, specifically cause it flows better and its more informative of what products express sells. I went for the Tech Side of things and wanted an edgy look that express is known for. I think the small red “cursors” really worked well throughout. http://home.moravian.edu/students/c/sttrc01/ad2/ 2. Falcon Northwest: Now I am not totally satisfied with it just because I wanted to do so much more with it, and for that specific reasoning I don’t like it at all. I do however like the ending, but I think the middle gets sort of muddy with the whole flashing of different parts of the computer, and I should have went with a laptop theme. But Falcon Northwest is not known for its laptops. Christie if your reading this: I will be late to class tonight because I left my Hard drive at home, and I need to get it. Rollover - into your grave!Assignment:Blog - Browse the web and find: 1) a site that successfully uses a rollover, animation, or swap image 2) a site that unsuccessfully uses a rollover, animation, or swap image Write at paragraph for each example. Explain why it is successful/ unsuccessful. Be sure to include the URL for each website. GOOD:http://www.newgrounds.com/ This website uses the rollover effect very well, subtly it changes the colors of the buttons so that one knows what button that they are about to press but not totally chaning the enviornment so its not usable anymore. It also fits the theme of the website and doesn't take away from everything else. BAD: http://www.tanzschulebuck.de/ These rollovers are horrible. The first on the "yellow" page changes the word so its not even readable, and there is one 1 button!? Second on the bubble page with the weird navagation, well there is that, and the nav page does not have any corralation with any other page with the website! the rollovers are ok... BUT its just not a good design. Written by: TedInput anyone? 0 have added more ways of procrastinating. REVIEW: EmailTuesday, September 05, 2006ASSIGNMENT #1: EMAIL ADVERTISEMENTUsing Photoshop or Illustrator, design a graphic email to advertise Moravian College’s Career Network Reception 2006. One ad will be choosen by the alumni relations office to be distributed to alumni via email. This is to be a creative assignment. There are photos from previous year’s events available online at http://home.moravian.edu/public/alurel/album/. _Requirements: The ad must not exceed 760 pixels in width (with a resolution of 72 pixels/inch). The ad must include the following information: * The Student Alumni Association’s 6th Annual Student - Alumni Career Networking Reception * Tuesday, November 14 * 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. * Haupert Union Building * The Student-Alumni Career Networking Reception is a unique opportunity for our alumni to interact with students and to discuss and advise students about careers in their field of interest. Last year over 150 students attended this event. We encourage you to invite your Moravian College friends and colleagues to attend as well. * If you are interested in attending, fill out the online registration form at www.moravian.edu/alumni by November 10. If you have any questions, please contact Penni Zimmerman (pzimmerman@moravian.edu), Assistant Director Alumni Relations. Review on my ads. HERE For my first ad I followed the “Moravian College” Style guide. Which specifies what kind of blue and what kind of grey one should use. I don’t know if I am totally satisfied with the concept, it wanted to follow a sort of modern concept with rounded edges and a san serif type face. I wanted to accentuate the “6TH” annual part of the message. I found that using a register button will also save on space and the user interface would be easier than typing out a long web address. The second concept is a more refined concept still accentuating the 6th annual part of the message, the color usage is different, and personally I like it better than the first. Or /.It’s a wonderful place for those of us nerds to get tech dirt and other interesting news articles relating to technology. The most fun part about reading the posts is reading the comments and or “flame wars” that are directly related to the article.
